Dr. Ananthakrishnan Srinivasan is a Professor with HAG pay scale in Physics Department, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG), India. After his M. Sc (Physics) from Bharathidasan University in 1985, he obtained M. Sc. (Engg.) and Ph.D degrees from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, in 1889 and 1992, respectively. He has held posts of Head of Physics Department and Dean of Students’ Affairs, Administration and Faculty Affairs at IITG. His current research interests are in glasses and glass-ceramics for optical, biomedical and electronic applications, magnetic materials (Heusler alloys for spintronic and magneto-caloric applications, nanomagnetic materials for biomedical applications and ultra-soft nanomagnetic materials) and developing instruments. He has published 130 papers in peer-reviewed journals and supervised eleven PhD student thesis works. He has co-edited one book and co-authored one web-based NPTEL course. 

Dr. Srinivasan is a recipient of Department of Atomic energy Young Scientist Research Award in 1996, post-doctoral fellowship from the Ministry of Science and Education, Spain (October 1993- September 95), Visiting Scientist fellowship from National institute for Materials Science, Japan (January – December 2009) and Visiting Professorship at University of South Africa (June 2016 – September 2017). He is an elected Fellow of the Instruments Society of India. He is a member of the Department of Science and Technology – Fast Track Scientist Selection Committee (Mathematical & Physical Sciences) from 2012. He is a member of scientific review committee of Initiative for Research and Innovation in Science (an Intel-DST-CII initiative) since 2011. He is currently a member of the Board of Governors of National Institute of Technology Agartala. He has also served as a member of Board of Governors of IIIT Guwahati and NIT Mizoram.
